Jersey Pottery ceramic plates with a bachin pattern

A turning point

The COVID-19 pandemic brought significant change to the business. In 2020, Jersey Pottery’s retail and online operations closed, bringing an end to more than 70 years of ceramics production. After nearly eight decades of making pottery, hospitality became the sole focus of the business. Although the products and places had changed, the family heritage and commitment to welcoming people remained.

Café Ubé takes flight

Café Ubé entered a new chapter with its opening at Jersey Airport as part of a five-year contract. Bringing fresh food, coffee and grab-and-go options to travellers, it extended the business’s reach to one of the Island’s busiest gateways. The airport opening marked another step in the evolution of a brand that had grown from the original pottery cafés.

Focusing on our roots

The period also brought changes to Jersey Crab Shack, with its St Helier and Gorey locations closing. The original restaurant at St Brelade’s Bay continued as the flagship home of the brand, with the introduction of takeaway a welcome addition for guests dining on the beach. Through these changes, the business continued to adapt to new circumstances while building on decades of experience in Jersey hospitality.
