From Pottery to Plates

Heritage

Our story on the Island stretches back decades, from our origins as a pottery studio to the family of restaurants we run today.

From pottery to platesA Jersey story, since 1946

Our story began in 1946, when Jersey Pottery opened its doors in Gorey. What started as a family ceramics business grew into a much-loved visitor attraction, before evolving into the collection of restaurants, bars and rooms that make up JP Restaurants today. Eighty years on, our Jersey roots remain at the heart of everything we do. The pottery may be gone, but our passion for bringing people together lives on.

THE POTTERY BOOM

The 1970s and 1980s

Jersey Pottery became one of the Island’s best-known visitor attractions, welcoming more than a million visitors a year at its peak. From a small coffee bar to a 500-seat restaurant, our hospitality side started to grow, too.

EXPANDING BEYOND GOREY

1990s to 2010s

As the business evolved, hospitality took centre stage. From catering and cafés to seaside dining at St Brelade’s Bay and the opening of Banjo in St Helier, our story began to reach new corners of the Island.

A NEW DIRECTION

2020 Onwards

The pandemic brought the end of ceramics production and a new focus on hospitality. Café Ubé expanded to Jersey Airport, while Jersey Crab Shack streamlined back to its original St Brelade's Bay location.
