2026 marks a very special milestone for JP Restaurants: 80 years since Jersey Pottery was founded in Gorey in 1946.
While our focus today is on filling plates, our story began with making them.
What started as a small ceramics business grew into one of Jersey’s best-known visitor attractions, welcoming more than a million visitors a year at its peak. Along the way, a small coffee bar opened in the 1960s, planting the first seed of the hospitality business that would eventually become JP Restaurants.
Over the decades, the business has evolved far beyond its original home in Gorey. We’ve opened beachside restaurants, cafés and town-centre venues, welcomed generations of islanders and visitors, and continued to grow as a Jersey business.
And this year marks another new chapter. Eight decades after Jersey Pottery was founded, 8 Beresford Street has reopened as Beresford House, bringing together dining, drinks, private events and overnight stays under one roof.
From pottery to plates, the story continues.
80 years. One family business. One very special island. And plenty more to come.
